Job overview

The Sales Associate is the welcoming face of Maui Grown Therapies patients. The successful candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills, a constant desire to improve, and attention to detail. This entry-level, non-managerial position offers the opportunity to learn and grow with the business from scratch, and to take on increasing levels of responsibility over time.

Duties and Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Sales Associate include interacting and training members in person and over the phone; record keeping; help with inventory and cash management; and help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming facility inside and out.

  • Greet patients in person or over the phone; make appointments; help with patient admission and renewal procedures
  • Maintains patient records in accordance with state law and company policy
  • Answers questions about the law and the business of patients and others
  • Assists patients in the selection of products; educates them about safe dosing and other aspects of medical cannabis
  • Assist the dispensary director in stock and cash management, daily and weekly
  • Maintains a clean, safe and welcoming environment inside and outside the establishment
  • Other tasks may be assigned by the dispensary director according to the needs of the society

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of post-secondary studies in a related field preferred

Work experience required

  • At least 2 years of experience in a fast paced customer service intensive industry – hospitality and retail experiences preferred
  • Work history showing progressive responsibility, willingness to accept, lead and complete additional projects or challenges

Knowledge required

  • Computer and equipment operations required to run an office / retail center (point of sale systems; Word; Excel; office equipment such as copier / telephone systems)
  • In-depth understanding of the state of Hawaii law governing medical cannabis
  • Arithmetic needed for basic inventory and cash management
  • Familiarity with the history and strains of medical cannabis preferred but not required

Physical demands

  • Extended time standing, walking, bending and reaching
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds over a distance of 100 feet

  • Must pass drug test and background check (State Mandate)
  • Reliable transportation
